My name is Tomas Heed and this is my blog.
I am 39 years old and I live in a house in Borås, Sweden with my wife and my two children – 10 and 8 years old. We don’t have any pets mainly since I am allergic to almost any animal, but also since we enjoy travelling so much and we don’t want to miss out on any vacations because we can’t find a caretaker for the pets.
I was born in 1977 as Tomas Henrik Ohlson and I grew up in Brämhult outside Borås. I have lived in Borås and its vicinity all my life basically, except for a few wasted years in Uppsala and Gothenburg. I like it here. It is a fairly small town but it has everything I need.
Over the years I have worked as a programmer at a variety of jobs and tasks. In June 2011, I quit my career as an employee and started my own IT consulting firm, Develup AB, and I now undertake various programming assignments on a consultancy basis. If you want to know more about my work, you are welcome to visit my corporate website or view my LinkedIn profile.
In 2016 I started this blog.
The purpose of the blog is to reach out to the broad masses with my interests – to create music, write books and to come up with nifty ideas. The blog will also contain some stuff about my life in general. A bit like Facebook, but everything is about me.
I really like writing. I find it easier to express myself in writing than in speech and, above all, it’s possible to undo a few times before the text is completed. It is difficult perform an Undo on something that’s been said. I also like to step into my own world where my book is set. I’ve always been a thinker.
I enjoy playing music. I sang all the time when I was a child and I played music on everything that I came across. As an example, I ruined our egg slicer when I tried to tune it so that I could play more notes than the beginning of Jingle Bells. Nowadays it’s mostly piano and vocals, but sometimes I play the guitar or the trumpet.
I like to come up with new ideas. Earlier, I have nurtured a dream that I’ll crack that idea, and then never work again. In modern times it has struck me that the journey could be more fun than the destination. Right now I focus on this idea of the blog and I enjoy working with it.
My wife and I both like to travel. Therefor, we invest a large portion of our household budget in the tourism industry. Two weeks in the summer, one week in the sun in the autumn and a ski trip in the spring is a minimum. We also try to get away on weekend trips occasionally. Usually we book everything ourselves, but in exceptional cases we go on charter flights.
A fact that would surely entertain all my old gym teachers is that I have started to like excercising. I have learned to appreciate a running workout to get out into the nature to breathe and empty my head. I may even get a little cranky if I do not run in a few days. It’s also a lot of fun with sports that you can do together with friends – badminton and beach volleyball to name two. Skiing is also great fun, not to mention my latest addiction – climbing.
Well, as you’ve probably guessed by now, this blog is about writing books, music, entrepreneurship, travel, training and health, things that motivates me, perhaps a little technology and programming, and even a little nonsense.
